5 Unique Bedroom Remodeling Ideas

June 6, 2013

When going over the rooms of your house, it’s hard to find one more important than the bedroom. It’s the room that’s supposed to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, so it makes sense that you would want to personalize it as much as possible. Here’s a list of home remodel ideas to spruce up the place where you lay your head at night and wake up to in the morning:

1. Personalized Displays
Few things show off your personality in your bedroom more than what you display on your walls. Go beyond the traditional paintings, posters, or area rugs and create stylized shelves, 3D relief sculptures, or interesting mirror arrangements.

2. Personalized Storage
Remodel your closet, dresser, and/or other storage spaces to eliminate clutter and better cater to your clothes and whatever else you want to store. You can go with tons of shallow shelves, or an entire rack just for your shoes. Options abound when you start to personalize your storage space.

3. Bright Lights
There’s all kinds of benefits to a stylized lighting system in the bedroom. Bright lighting is useful in making a smaller bedroom appear larger, and you can easily create a personalized lighting scheme to set any kind of theme or mood you want.

4. Custom Headboard
The headboard of the bed can be a stunning focal point of the bedroom. A good headboard has a lot of practical uses, too. A padded headboard increases support when sitting up reading, and a bold design can really make it pop.

5. Green Thumb
Here in Portland we’re all about harmony with the environment. If you’re environmentally conscious, go for a piece of furniture, flooring or carpeting made from recycled materials. Working on a budget? No problem! Not all green furniture is pricy. Browse some of the many vintage consignment shops around town to find the right piece for the right price.
